It’s like Pokémon for forests.

Throughout the colder months, we’ll be exploring Whangārei to see what we can see. Days and times will be a bit mixed this year but trying to fit in as much mushrooming as possible.

Check out the events page for where we’ll be throughout winter. Everyone is welcome, unless you plan to act like a dick – in which case please stay home.

Wear sensible-ish shoes, bring a raincoat and warm things, snacks for your sweet self and water. Fancy optional extras – hand lens, mirror to look under mushroom caps, mushroom knife.

To be super clear this is not a foraging expedition. Sometimes we might find edible ‘shrooms, and we may take a couple here and there. But the main aim is to find as many different species as we can and have a crack at identifying them.
